SAO PAOLO: Hoechst Marion Roussel (HMR) has signed an agreement
with Burson-Marsteller’s Latin American headquarters to develop a
pan-regional positioning campaign for its line of analgesics.
A strategic communications plan (for Novalgina and Neo-Melubrina) is
currently being hammered out by a joint HMR and Burson team, with the
agency’s Brazil and Miami outposts contributing to the account.
It is easy to see why Burson wants to cement its ties with HMR, whose
best-known brands include allergy therapy Allegra and Lasix, a
diuretic.
The proposed merger between the company and fellow pharmaceutical giant
Rhune-Poulenc would create a behemoth with dollars 20 billion in sales,
opening the door for a glut of public relations opportunities.
