Granted, selling humans and human organs is illegal, but that hasn’t

stopped savvy would-be auctioneers from attempting to do so on the

site.

Over the past month, three listings for babies and two for kidneys have

gotten past the site’s monitors and been made available for auction.

Surprisingly, the kidneys seemed more in demand than the kids, with a

dollars 5.7 million bid overwhelming the dollars 109,100 top offer for a

child. Both listings were removed immediately, and eBay marketing VP

Steve Westly said they were probably hoaxes.

This isn’t the first time that the site has had to deal with this kind

of problem. Earlier this year, a teen attempted to auction off his

virginity - though the top bid reached only dollars 10 before it was

pulled.
