Anne-Marie Aigner, president of Boston agency Aigner Associates,

may have found the secret to winning new business: becoming your

potential client’s best customer.

Long an admirer of the Mount Auburn Hospital, Aigner became a patient in

late June when she underwent shoulder surgery. While there, she placed a

call to the hospital’s president, Jeanette Clough, mentioning that she

ran a PR and marketing firm.

As luck would have it, the hospital was looking for a new agency. Aigner

returned two weeks later with her arm in a sling to pitch the

business.

In late July, Aigner was back at Mount Auburn when she fractured her

left ankle and badly sprained her right ankle. While waiting to be seen

by a doctor, Aigner called Clough again. ’I said, ’We won’t be getting

back to you this week, but I love your place so much that I’m

back!’’

Apparently, persistence pays off - Aigner recently began representing

the hospital.
