WASHINGTON, DC: Clinton administration aide Steve Cohen has joined

Ogilvy as a VP in its Washington office.

Cohen, who joined the 1992 Clinton presidential campaign fresh out of

college, has held a variety of PR positions within the administration,

working as a special assistant to the White House director of

communications and as deputy communications director to First Lady

Hillary Clinton. Prior to joining Ogilvy, he worked as deputy assistant

secretary for public affairs and strategic planning at the Department of

Housing & Urban Development.

While Cohen’s exact role at the firm has not yet been determined, an

important part of his mission will almost certainly be media

relations.

Ogilvy/DC recently secured an account providing strategic and media

consulting services on behalf of the openNET Coalition, which represents

ISPs in their battle with cable companies over how Internet access

should be provided.
