NICOSIA, CYPRUS: Shandwick has terminated its relationship with its
Gulf-region partner, International Public Relations (IPR), as part of a
global restructuring process.
In its place, Cyprus-based Action Public Relations has been appointed as
Shandwick’s sole affiliate in the Middle East and North Africa. The new
arrangement, which will provide Shandwick with access to 10 more markets
in the region, takes effect at the beginning of next month.
’This was the last step in our restructuring,’ said Lutz Meyer, managing
director of Shandwick Europe. ’All agencies whose contracts were
terminated were offered affiliation to Golin/Harris (the firm’s sister
agency in the Interpublic Group network). But I don’t know what IPR has
decided.’
IPR CEO Mohammed Habis, however, claimed his agency terminated the
affiliation, based on IPR’s focus on developing its own core
clients.
The agency switch is the final element of Shandwick’s ’hub strategy’ to
establish affiliates in growth regions.
