A giant replica of the Sydney Opera House was unveiled in New York

City’s Rockefeller Center earlier this month at the launch of Bank of

America’s America Down Under Tour.

The tour, which will visit 48 US communities over the next year, is part

of a promotional and educational campaign in advance of the 2000

Olympics, which the bank sponsors. Bank of America is hoping the tour

will give it greater exposure in local markets.

The displays come as close to replicating Australia’s famed sights as

viewers are likely to see outside the continent. Among the displays are

an Outback Airlines simulator ride, Aboriginal artwork and a five-story

Olympic flame tower. The Opera house, however, is likely to be the

show-stopper. ’It really gives audiences the feel of being there,’ said

national director event marketing Dockery Clark.
