LOS ANGELES: Southern California’s top PR talent has been playing
musical chairs over the past few weeks, with several senior-level pros
changing places at competing top-tier agencies.
Edelman VP Tanya Peebles, who was a top figure in the firm’s consumer
marketing practice, has jumped to Fleishman-Hillard as VP of marketing
In her new position, Peebles will oversee several national accounts,
including Nestle brands Nescafe and Carnation. Her hiring fills the
vacancy created by the departure of Jan Taylor Bauer, now a marketing
practice SVP at GCI. At GCI, Bauer will work on accounts for British
Airways, United Distillers and Vintners and SkyMall.
During her eight-year Edelman tenure, Peebles worked with a variety of
consumer clients, including Bumble Bee Seafood and Fetzer Vineyards. She
said the move to Fleishman, LA’s second-largest PR firm according to the
1999 PRWeek rankings, was spurred by opportunity ’to apply my skills to
some of the world’s largest brands.’
According to Peebles, her replacement has not been named, though the
firm has ’beefed up junior staff in the group.’ Claudia Bloom will
continue to lead the consumer marketing group as SVP.
FH has also added financial communications veteran Sheree Aronson as
SVP, a new post in LA.
In addition to Bauer, GCI has added former Bohle Company senior group
manager Joseph Riser as VP overseeing the corporate and technology
On the corporate side, he replaces Ariel Carpenter.
