GENEVA: APCO has added John Weekes, the immediate past Canadian
ambassador to the World Trade Organization (WTO), to chair its global
trade practice in Geneva.
APCO, which has represented Boeing and Kodak on global trade issues for
over a decade, believes having Weekes on board will prove invaluable
over the next five years, during which the WTO is expected to address
emerging issues such as e-commerce and biotech.
’All the rules of international trade are being redesigned,’ said APCO
president and CEO Marjery Kraus. ’Few people have the kind of knowledge
about trade issues that John does.’
Weekes has a strong background in trade issues, having served as senior
deputy assistant minister in Canada’s Department of Foreign Affairs and
International Trade.
