NEW YORK: The Rowland Company has expanded its counseling capabilities through the hiring of Susan Bishopric and Norman Begun as EVPs. Bishopric, an expert in consumer lifestyle strategies, rejoins Rowland after working in Miami as an independent practitioner. She will be responsible for the 100% Recycled Paperboard Alliance account, among others. Begun was formerly VP of corporate communications for the Scott Paper Company.

MILFORD, MA: Alan Tieuli, formerly a VP at Agnew, Carter/MS&L, has
launched AAT & Sons Public Relations, a new agency specializing in media
relations and event marketing. Tieuli, who had been with Agnew, Carter
since 1989, will continue to collaborate with the agency on several
accounts, including the Chase Manhattan Bank Corporate Challenge series
of road races.
WASHINGTON, DC: The Public Affairs Council has added Amy Acton Gilbody
as manager of programs, a position that will focus on state relations
and issue management. Gilbody joins the Council from the Manufactured
Housing Institute in Arlington, VA, where she directed grassroots and
political action committee programs. Prior to that, she worked for the
American Medical Association’s division of political education.
WASHINGTON, DC: United Parcel Service has hired Sheryl Shelby as a
public affairs manager in its DC office. Shelby, who joins the shipping
giant following a stint as manager of government relations for Tenneco,
will consult on a range of legislative and political matters, such as
international trade issues.
REDWOOD CITY, CA: MadeToOrder.com, an online vendor of logo merchandise,
has shifted its PR account - reportedly worth around dollars 300,000 in
annual fees - from Neale-May & Partners to Wilson McHenry.
OLD GREENWICH, CT: Fortune Brands has promoted Clarkson Hine to the new
position of VP, corporate communications. Hine joined the company in
August 1998 as director of communications. Previously, he served in
senior communications positions on the Senate, presidential campaign and
post-election staffs of Senator Bob Dole.
LOS ANGELES: Fleishman-Hillard announced the addition of another VP to
its LA marketing communications group. Toni Miller, previously VP of PR
for Xceed, a publicly traded Internet company, will supervise a
department of four and report to senior partner/deputy GM Lisa
Robinson.

McGlone & Associates its national trade and business media relations

drive the company’s system-on-a-chip solutions division. The account,
previously handled by Cohn & Wolfe, is reportedly worth dollars 300,000
in annual fees.
