LONDON: Microsoft is on the verge of recruiting its first UK
government relations head.
The move follows a year in which the software giant attempted to extend
its cooperation with the UK through participation in Y2K and
Internet-access initiatives. Microsoft is also said to be eager to offer
advice about pending e-commerce laws.
The new post, based out of Microsoft’s UK headquarters in Reading,
remains undefined, with duties hinging on the ability of the candidate.
The person will work in conjunction with the existing corporate PR team
and will also liaise with August. One, Microsoft’s UK public affairs
agency.
