IRVINE, CA: HolidayShoppingnews.com, a site designed to help PR
pros land placements in holiday gift guides, has been launched by
Electronic Media Communications.
The site, which debuts November 1, provides cyber-savvy companies with a
place to post press releases, photographs and streamed audio/ video
clips for viewing by reporters and consumers. For the price of posting -
which ranges from dollars 550 for a text-only press release to dollars
950 for a press release, two photos and one audio or video clip -
companies also receive a media-relations assist from EMC.
EMC’s media outreach campaign, which is attempting to position the site
as a newsgathering source for journalists writing or producing holiday
stories, will include weekly notification of information available on
the site, as well as regular communication (via e-mail, fax, phone and
wire service) with more than 3,000 media targets.
In addition, EMC will also conduct a secondary media relations effort
aimed at driving consumer traffic to the site. This campaign will
include a VNR, a 50-station radio tour and an Internet press
release.
EMC president Patrick Pharris admits that the HolidayShoppingnews.com
site will not help companies land coveted placements in the holiday
issues of print books, as these magazines tend to close at least five to
six months ahead of the cover date. ’Our focus is on newspapers, TV,
radio and Internet - both general and vertical sites,’ he said.
Product information on the site will be organized into 18 categories,
ranging from automotive and beauty to pets and sporting goods.
For an extra fee, PR pros or companies can track visitors to their spot
on the site via EMC’s online clipping services and a media registration
page. The site will stay online through January 7.
