MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA: Edelman’s Silicon Valley branch has snapped up
Oracle pro Bob Berger to head up the Apple account.
Berger, who signed on with Edelman last month, previously served as
director of global PR and marketing communications for Oracle’s
education arm. In his new role as SVP and leader of the Apple account,
Berger replaces Marcia Holle, who shifted to another role within the
agency.
Berger said the opportunity to work on the Apple account was his primary
reason for leaving Oracle. ’Oracle is a great company, but I’ve always
been an Apple follower, both the company and its products,’ he said.
’I’ve always preferred working on a Mac over a PC, and Harry
(Pforzheimer) has a great reputation as a leader in the Valley.’
Though Edelman has had a presence in Silicon Valley since 1993, it has
enjoyed massive growth over the past two years. Today, Edelman/Mountain
View has about 60 employees and projects billings of about dollars 8
million in 1999.
In addition to long-term cornerstone clients Apple and PeopleSoft, the
agency handles EDS, Verisign and Procter & Gamble’s online business and
e-commerce site, Reflect.com.
