PALO ALTO, CA: SparkPR, a Silicon Valley boutique firm featured
this month in Wired magazine, has snagged one of Applied Communications’
Oracle account directors to join its ranks.
Shannon Mollner, who has spent the past four years at Applied, signed on
with SparkPR last week as ’chief dyn-o-mite.’ In her new role, Mollner
will work closely with agency partner (and ’chief blast strategist’)
Paige O’Neill, also an Oracle PR veteran. Mollner has also been handed
responsibility for building the agency’s roster of business-to-business
clients, as well as for working with the firm’s existing clients.
Mollner arrives at Spark with a wide range of hi-tech communications
experience. Most recently, she managed PR for Applied’s Oracle Internet
Platform account, the company’s core technology business. Before that,
she served as a key member of the corporate PR team that helped foment
debate surrounding Larry Ellison’s controversial ’network computer.’ The
computer giant has reportedly placed plans for the network PC on the
backburner.
SparkPR was founded in January 1999 by ex-Netscape PR pros Chris Holten
and Donna Sokolsky and specializes in launching Internet startups.
Current clients include AuctionWatch, epinions.com, Yodlee.com,
MedicaLogic and The Barksdale Group.
