NEW YORK: The McNeil Consumer Healthcare Division of Johnson &
Johnson has chosen Hill & Knowlton over a host of suitors for the launch
of its new liquid Tylenol Sore Throat medicine.
The new product, billed by the company as the first over-the-counter
medication for sore throat pain relief, will start appearing on store
shelves across the country this week.
Aside from the Tylenol launch, H&K is also coordinating a sore throat
education campaign jointly sponsored by McNeil and the American Academy
of Otolaryngology, a physician’s organization dedicated to the care of
ears, nose and throat.
The agency boasts a fairly extensive history with both McNeil and parent
company Johnson & Johnson. It is currently directing a global program in
support of the McNeil division’s Benecol cholesterol-lowering foods.
