Now here’s a savvy marketing ploy - giving out the phone number of
gorgeous Gabrielle Reece, the beach volleyball star and model whose
leaping spikes make both men and women quiver.
Well, that’s not exactly what Porter Novelli did to promote Kellogg’s
new Special K Plus cereal, but callers to a toll-free number earlier
this month did get to hear a recorded message from Reece on the other
end.
The volleyball vixen even came to New York’s Grand Central Station
recently to help spike interest in better nutrition. Situated in front
of a giant telephone, Reece and PN staffers coaxed cranky commuters over
to a bank of phones, where they could help spread the word to their
friends. One journalist - ours - even took the time to call his
mother.
’With the growing popularity of women’s sports, women have more options
for choosing what fits best with their lifestyles,’ said Marjorie
Snyder, associate executive director for programs and planning at WSF.
’But proper nutrition is a necessity, not an option.’
