MENLO PARK, CA: Former America Online PR pro Maggie Young has
traded in a top post with the Internet giant for a little bit of
mambo.
Young, who headed up AOL’s West Coast corporate communications during
its mega-merger with Netscape, has jumped to Mambo.com, a start-up
offering online event planning.
In her new position as the site’s senior director of communications,
Young will oversee all PR strategy and internal communications.
Mambo.com went live in October.
’AOL was a fabulous company, but I really missed the bare bones aspect
of working for a start-up,’ said Young. Prior to her AOL tenure, she
founded and headed up Kidsoft, which distributes educational software
for children.
Young began her career in the political realm, working for the State
Department and on George Bush’s 1992 presidential campaign.
