PORTLAND, OR: New Venture Communications (NVC), a hi-tech
specialist, announced last week that it has landed four new accounts
worth more than dollars 1.1 million.
New clients at NVC include Cenquest, which partners with universities to
provide graduate-level education online; Salu.net, which provides
Internet services for independent physicians; WebTrends, which provides
enterprise management and analysis for online businesses; and Network24,
a Bay Area-based Web broadcasting company.
All of the new clients are start-ups with no previous agency of record -
except for Network24, which used the Weber Group for just a few months
before hiring NVC.
NVC president Ray Berardinelli suggested that the firm’s growth evinces
the continuing health of the Pacific Northwest hi-tech economy.
According to a recent survey by PricewaterhouseCoopers, venture
capitalists invested more than dollars 80 million in Oregon-based
start-ups during the first half of 1999, up more than 135% from a year
ago.
Also, with Silicon Valley agencies thirsting for talent but too busy to
add to their client load, more CA-based companies are looking for PR
help outside the area.
To serve the new business, NVC recently added eight new employees,
including former Verifone PR manager Sheree Fitzpatrick.
