Wrong side of the street, wrong side of the ocean, or both?
Cab drivers from the United Kingdom recently made an appearance in
Boston as part of a Massachusetts Office of Travel & Tourism (MOTT)
campaign to encourage British tourists to visit the Commonwealth.
The cab drivers were supposed to arrive decked out in ’English finery,
including Union Jack flags and hats’ and pose for pictures outside of
famed tourist trap Cheers. However, they committed a mild PR faux pas
when they failed to show up in costume.
Let’s hope the drivers didn’t also forget the purpose of their Boston
excursion, which was to learn more about the city and then regale
passengers in the UK with stories about their visit. But then, perhaps
our UK friends have heard more than enough about Boston in the wake of
September’s Ryder Cup hysteria ...
