If Sean Connery can be paired on screen with women young enough to be his granddaughters, who says only 20-year-old Chippendale-like hunks should be featured in beefcake pin-up calendars?
If Sean Connery can be paired on screen with women young enough to
be his granddaughters, who says only 20-year-old Chippendale-like hunks
should be featured in beefcake pin-up calendars?
Certainly not the marketing types at Del Webb Sun City Georgetown, a
retirement community near Austin.
While brainstorming ideas for an activities calendar, the staff decided
to photograph some of the better-built male residents to promote
fitness.
The result, Aged Beef: Men in their Prime, features 15 ’manly’ men over
age 57, including former Dallas Cowboy Bob Lilly. For a mere dollars
9.95 you can ogle a 68-year-old triathlete in his Speedo or a shirtless
senior wearing a leather biker outfit.
The calendar has proven a PR boon for Sun City Georgetown. PR director
Lisa Fisher said the studly seniors have been featured on Good Morning
America and other national and international media outlets, while the
agencies promoting Sun City in Houston, San Antonio and Dallas -
Pierpont, KGBrickman and Cooksey McGill, respectively - brought several
of the time-worn hunks to their cities for well-received press events.
Media kits were served on Styrofoam trays wrapped in plastic, not unlike
steaks from the grocery store.
So now that Sun City has engendered hope of future sexiness among older
men, will the community’s gals get a chance to strike a pose? Fisher
said that hasn’t been decided yet - though doesn’t a Blossoms of Sun
City calendar seem a natural follow-up?
