Lexis pulls off debut Paddy Power stunt at Manchester United's expense

Lexis has contributed its first PR stunt for bookmaker Paddy Power by producing an 'emergency' waxwork of Sir Alex Ferguson to mark Manchester United's defeat by Chelsea yesterday.

The replica of the man who retired after winning his 13th Premier League title last summer was encased in a glass box outside the Champions’ Old Trafford ground.

A Paddy Power-branded sign on the box read: "In case of emergency, break glass."

"Although Paddy Power has worked with Lexis in the past, this is the first time the company has been used to formulate ideas for our marketing stunts," said Sebastian Bell, PR manager at the betting company.
"With social media activity on Sir Alex Ferguson’s return to Old Trafford growing and Manchester United’s title challenge virtually over following their defeat by Chelsea, we thought it was an ideal time to execute Lexis’ stunt.
"It’s officially an emergency now for the Red Devils and we expect our glass box could be broken even more quickly than a Wayne Rooney pledge of allegiance."
Paddy Power is offering odds on current United manager David Moyes being sacked by the last game of the season at 13/5 and for Ferguson to return as manager at 13/2.
