Havas loses global chief executive David Jones

David Jones, the global chief executive of Havas PR parent group Havas, is leaving the company to embark on a career as a tech entrepreneur. Jones will still be involved with the company as an adviser for the next 12 months.

Havas chairman Yannick Bolloré is to take Jones' responsiblities as chief executive of Havas. Bolloré is the son of major Havas shareholder Vincent Bolloré.

"The social media and technology bug has bitten me," Jones said today, ahead of the planned launch of his start-up's app next month.

Jones has worked within the Havas group for 15 years and has been its global chief executive for two years.
