Splendid lands Evans Cycles press office duties

High street cycle retailer Evans Cycles has appointed Splendid Communications to run its press office on an annual retainer.

The agency won the account through a pitch involving five other agencies. It is tasked with establishing Evans Cycles as the trusted voice of British cycling, delivering media coverage beyond product pages and specialist titles.

Splendid will use the retailer's partnership with Olympic gold medal winner Sir Chris Hoy to develop the brand's strategy, inspiring and enabling people to get more joy from riding throughout the year.

The agency will report to Evans Cycles head of marketing James Backhouse, who said it was appointed because of its reputation for delivering high quality media coverage for some of the UK’s biggest brands and the passion the team demonstrated for cycling.
