Ask Trevor: Do clothes matter?

Agony uncle and University of Westminster's visiting professor of PR Trevor Morris gives it to you straight.

Trevor Morris: PRWeek's agony uncle

I work in the PR department of an uber-trendy business built on a digital platform. All the blokes seem to wear skinny jeans, Converse trainers and carry a shoulder bag. How can I look different without trying too hard?

You could wear a suit and tie. Steve Biko, the great anti-apartheid activist, said: "If you want to say something radical you should dress conservative." If the advice is good you will soon be seen as the most creative person in the firm. But if you are rather vain and want to stand out, why not wear pink lederhosen and nothing else?
