British Parking Association hires Insight and The PR Office

The British Parking Association has taken on Insight Public Affairs as its first public affairs agency, as well as retaining The PR Office for public relations.

The two agencies have previously worked together and teamed up to enter the PA and PR pitch, which is believed to have included four agencies.

The business is understood to be worth a five-figure sum annually and the agencies have been engaged for three years.

Insight is the first public affairs agency the trade body has taken on and the appointment of follows an expansion of the BPA’s public affairs work, which will be led in-house with the agency providing strategic advice.

Insight managing director John Lehal said the agency would be working with the BPA on its Approved Operator Scheme (AOS), which covers parking enforcement services on private land or in unregulated public car parks.

"We will work with the BPA to raise awareness of the AOS among minsters and parliamentarians, highlighting the importance and value of the scheme to the public," he said.

"The BPA is keen to keep the customer at the heart of its activity and, with that in mind, we will work alongside The PR Office to offer strategic advice on proactive public information campaigns."

The PR Office has worked with the BPA for the previous three years and repitched for the work. Account manager Mark Frazer said the reactive work that the agency had focused on previously would be handled in-house and The PR Office would now develop more positive campaigns to set the media agenda.

The agencies will report to BPA head of public affairs and research Dave Smith.
