Nick Clegg to be questioned by MPs on lobbying bill

The Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg is to be questioned about the lobbying bill on Thursday 10 October by the Commons Political and Constitutional Reform Committee.

Clegg has previously distanced himself from involvement in the Government’s plans to regulate lobbying because of perceived conflict with his wife’s interests.

Miriam Gonzalez Durantez is currently head of EU trade and government affairs at US legal firm Dechert and was previously at another legal firm, DLA Piper, which has a lobbying operation.

The same committee session was due to include the minister for political and constitutional reform Chloe Smith, who resigned at the weekend.
