It is understood Currie is to take up a senior position at Porter Novelli to head its work for heavyweight tech clients such as Hewlett-Packard and BT.

The former global director of Bite and founder of Inferno has led H+K’s tech practice since 2010, working with clients such as Visa Europe.

Porter Novelli has been without a dedicated tech head since the departure of Jess Rowntree for Bite in 2011.

Currie’s hire strengthens Porter Novelli’s UK leadership team following the expansion of MD Sally Ward’s role to encompass Europe-wide duties.

He joins a senior line-up consisting of recently appointed health and wellness director Mary Smiddy, corporate director Neil Bayley and consumer director Jo Patterson.

The agency bolstered its relationship with longstanding client Hewlett-Packard at the end of 2012, picking up additional work after the merger of its PC and printer business.

H+K had not responded to a request for comment on a replacement for Currie at the time of publication.
