DIARY: Reconciliation as Grant and Parker drink to renewed acquaintances

Brunswick chairman Alan Parker and Tulchan Communications founder

Andrew Grant were spotted sharing a gin and tonic at the tail end of the

IPR President's reception last week - probably the first time the two

have supped together since Grant's departure from Brunswick nearly two

years ago.

Grant, a former partner at Brunswick, quit in May 2000 to start his own

financial firm, Tulchan Communications.

It is no secret that relations between the two former friends were

soured by his sudden departure.

Grant doesn't deny that recent encounters have been less than harmonious

between himself and his friend and colleague of many years: 'It was an

abrupt departure,' he admits. 'I worked for him for ten years. We were

very good friends.'

It is understood the reason behind the falling out was the fact that

Grant was the only partner at Brunswick ever to have left to set up his

own agency in direct competition with Brunswick.

When asked if the two were now friends, Grant was cagey.

'He was there, and I was there,' he said, rather ducking the question.
