Abbey National nets Royal Mail PRO

Abbey National has hired Royal Mail brand chief Sarah Larvor to

lead its global internal comms efforts.

Larvor leaves Royal Mail after ten years to take on the role of group

communications manager at Abbey, overseeing 22 staff and a £2m

budget.

The appointment marks the end of Abbey's five-month search to replace

Julian Nissim, who quit last year to join financial services firm The

Willis Group as internal comms manager (PRWeek, 19 October 2001).

Larvor starts at Abbey later this month with a remit to head internal

comms across the UK, Europe, the US and Hong Kong.

Abbey corporate affairs director Thomas Coops, to whom Larvor reports,

said: 'I want to make sure internal communications has an even higher

profile and is much more aligned with change management.'

Larvor's remit includes overseeing the corporate website, intranet,

staff suggestion scheme, staff magazines and all other employee

communications.

She said: 'There's a lot to learn and I need to work out how things have

been done in the past and if changes are required.'

Larvor was most recently head of brand at Royal Mail, leading an

11-strong team, but has held a number of employee communications roles

within the group.

She said of the decision to move: 'I had been with Royal Mail for a

considerable period of time and, although I'd had a varied career there,

for my own development I was looking for a new challenge.'
