Wagland to leave AWG for position at Clifford Chance

Clifford Chance has appointed Jeff Wagland as head of PR.

Wagland joins the world's largest law firm in April from water and

construction firm AWG, the parent company of utility Anglian Water,

where he was head of corporate affairs.

He replaces previous PR chief Tom Rose, who had the title head of press

and left last November to join City law firm Herbert Smith as its first

head of communications (PRWeek, 15 September, 2001).

Since Rose's departure, PR has been run by consultant Barry Jackson, who

has also been tasked with reviewing communications.

Following that review, Wagland's role will have added responsibility for

all aspects of PR, including public affairs. He will report to head of

business development Matthew Gorman.

Jackson said: 'When Wagland takes up the post he will carry that review

on, looking further at what the company needs.'

Wagland joined AWG, which was formed in 2000 by the acquisition of

Morison Construction by Anglian, in January last year.

Clifford Chance employs more than 3,500 lawyers in 30 offices across the

world.
