PUBLIC SECT0R: Camden council to set up department for external affairs

The London Borough of Camden is to create an in-house external

affairs division in an attempt to better communicate with

stakeholders.

Businesses, government officials and ministers and local housing groups

will be among those targeted by the team, which will include an external

affairs manager and officer.

Also working with the yet-to-be-appointed team will be the newly created

post of Kings Cross PR manager.

This role has been created to handle PR for the multi-billion pound

housing and retail development in the area.

External affairs was previously handled by freelance consultant Alan

Pickstock.

The external affairs team will report to Deirdre Colledge, assistant CEO

(communications).

Camden is also on the hunt for an internal comms manager following the

departure of Emma Anderson, who is to become head of comms at the London

Borough of Richmond in March.
