One2One recruits Weber Shandwick for external PR

Mobile phone giant One2One has completed the overhaul of its

external PR.



The company has reduced its five-strong roster to just one for the first

time, recruiting Weber Shandwick to support all corporate, marketing,

community liaison and issues management activities.



Corporate shop Golin/Harris International's London arm and consumer

agency Band & Brown, along with other regional agencies, previously

supported One2One's PR efforts.



WS was appointed after a five-way pitch. Band & Brown, whose Larkspur

subsidiary handled One2One from its 1993 launch, declined to pitch.



One2One UK corporate comms director Neil Lovell said WS would assist in

promoting proposed 3G services and its rebranding as T-Mobile later in

the year.



One2One is the UK network of T-Mobile International, which claims 66

million customers globally.



The WS team is overseen by Sally Ward, MD of the UK consumer

practice.



She said the team would involve staff from its corporate and consumer

divisions, strategic media unit and regional network.



Lovell joined One2One last year (PRWeek, 5 October 2001) from Barkers

Advertising, where he was a regional director.



At One2One he oversees a 20-strong corporate communications department

covering all aspects of communications, including corporate PR, employee

communications, community liaison and knowledge management.



He replaced Anna Cloke, who joined rival Vodafone earlier last year.
