Barclays Bank has announced a boost in its local-level PR, creating
a separate broadcast PR account for the first time.
HBL Media has been hired to handle the account and tasked with improving
coverage, particularly at a local level using regional radio and TV.
This is seen as important after Barclays attracted widespread negative
publicity in recent years over its branch closure programme.
HBL senior account manager Lindsay Kennedy said: 'It (branch closures)
was not always reported in a perfect way. It wasn't all bad news.'
The HBL team is also tasked with boosting Barclay's role as a
commentator on financial issues in the national media.
Other financial clients of HBL include the Confederation of British
Industry, the British Chambers of Commerce and the Building Societies
