Computer Associates stages UK corp pitch

Computer Associates (CA), the world's fourth largest software firm,

is holding a beauty parade for its entire UK corporate and B2B PR

business.

CA this week confirmed it has sent out RFPs to a number of agencies and

is in the early stages of the pitch process for its corporate, product

and B2B work.

Incumbent UK agency Harvard PR is one of the agencies on the pitch

list.

A CA spokeswoman said: 'The review is across the board of the UK

business. We have worked with our current agency for a couple of years

and felt it was time for a review.'

CA, led by chairman Charles Wang, confirmed retained agencies in

Scotland and Ireland would not be affected by the review.

Edinburgh-based agency The Communications Business will continue to

handle CA's PR across Scotland.

Likewise, Text 100 remains CA's corporate and product PR agency in

Ireland following its appointment more than two years ago (PRWeek, 4

June 1999).

It is believed CA is still to compile a pitch shortlist, but the firm

remained tight-lipped as to when the pitch would take place.

'The RFP has gone out and we have had some proposals back - we are in

the process of reviewing and will take it from there,' said the CA

spokeswoman.

Harvard, which is part of the Chime Online group, reports to CA UK

public relations manager Lisa Baxter.
