Whether Brighton & Hove Council's PR team win or lose at the Local
Government Chronicle awards in March, they are almost guaranteed to be
temperamental.
The south-coast PROs, up for the communications team of the year award,
also won the PRWeek-sponsored communicators of the year award at last
September's IPR local government group awards.
But when a journalist approached them at the event to offer
congratulations, the Council's PRO Alan Stone told him, in unprintable
language, to naff off. 'We don't talk to journalists,' said Stone.
A senior PRO from another council at the event added, cautiously: 'I
thought the behaviour of some of their (Brighton & Hove's) team was not
what one might expect.'
If that's what they're like when they win, it might be worth steering
clear all together if they lose in March.
