handbag.com PR put out to pitch for a consumer edge

Women's lifestyle website handbag.com is to repitch its PR support

in an effort to make inroads into the consumer arena.

The website, a joint venture between chemist Boots and Hollinger

Digital, is to part company with incumbent Mahseer PR and is seeking to

replace the tech PR firm with a consumer shop.

Mahseer account director Sophie Naylor said the split was 'wholly

amicable', and added that the agency had assisted its client in creating

a four-agency pitchlist.

The decision to move towards consumer support was necessary due to the

growth of the business, Naylor said: 'We've been working with handbag

for two years and in that time they've become a market -leading women's

site. Now they need to become more consumer-oriented in terms of

PR.'

Naylor said a decision was expected early next week for an appointment

by early February.
