Golin/Harris nets all consumer PR for Bass Brewers

Drinks giant Bass Brewers has switched consumer PR agencies

following a review of PR activity across its brands.

Golin/Harris International picked up the consumer brands business -

which includes drinks such as Reef and Carling - after a non-competitive

pitch.

The agency adds Bass's consumer work to its existing remit for the

group, handling sports and sponsorship PR.

Incumbent Shilland Communications lost out in the review after more than

two years overseeing the consumer brief.

Bass head of PR and sponsorship Stuart Cain said: 'It makes sense for

the same agency to handle all elements of our consumer-facing PR so that

we can make sure there's no mixed messages or lost opportunities.'

Golin/Harris director Abigail Edmond leads a five-strong team on the

account.

Bass retained Golin/Harris and Countrywide Porter Novelli for consumer

and trade PR more than two years ago, but handed the briefs to Shilland

after a comms review (PRWeek, 22 October 1999).
