DIARY: Japanese twist added to Cake's 'hold music'

The 'hold music' question has arisen again, this time sparked by

Cake. While Lewis Communications forces cartoon tunes on callers and

Weber Shandwick has a jazz effort, Cake is ploughing a trendier

furrow.

The agency is plugging the latest project from music video and ad makers

Hammer & Tongs (of ITV Digital's monkey ad fame).

The agency uses a custom-made effort, described by an agency source as

boasting 'a Japanese guy singing about how he loves Cake'.

To us, it sounded like a techno track recorded in a busy factory.
