MEDIA: IPC selects Tough as WebUser editor

IPC has appointed Colin Tough as editor of its consumer internet

magazine, WebUser.

Tough was previously executive editor of IPC tx - the publishing

company's TV listings division - and plans to make WebUser more of a

content title in a similar way.

Tough said: 'I want to make it much more events-driven. The web is so

much about popular culture these days: people are using it to check out

new albums, new films, and events. I want to make the magazine reflect

this so that it is less of a technical magazine and more about content;

very much like a TV listings magazine about the web.'

The appointment follows three months when the magazine had been without

a permanent editor following the departure of launch editor Jim Lennox

last year. In that time it was overseen by Mark Bishop, editor-in-chief

of IPC's country and leisure division.

The magazine has not published an ABC figure since its launch last

March, but Tough claimed it was the market leader.

Tough was previously deputy editor of TVTimes and launch editor of IPC's

TV & Satellite Week.
