PUBLIC SECT0R: North Yorks Police Authority targets PR with Bergmans

The North Yorkshire Police Authority is to crank up PR efforts

aimed at 'demystifying' its activities, and this week unveiled plans to

target the public with a web-based interactive education resource.

Bergmans PR has been re-appointed to run activities to introduce the new

chair of the Authority, Jane Kenyon who was appointed towards the end of

last year, and to expand the circulation of the two newsletters that the

Authority produces.

An authority spokesman said: 'We need an education process to make the

public aware of what the Authority does on their behalf. Most

importantly we want to give the public a chance to speak directly to the

police authority.'

Bergmans was initially appointed in 1997 and this re-appointment follows

a review designed to comply with local authority tender rules.

The agency will report to Kenyon and the account will be run by managing

partner Robin Ashby.
