Frost quits Cadbury's for npower post

Cadbury Trebor Bassett's PR head for ten years, Richard Frost, is

leaving to take up a similar role at controversial energy provider

npower.

Frost will build a team to handle both internal and external comms. He

takes over from interim PR head Alan Thompson, who will work as a

consultant to the company.

npower is the UK's largest electricity supplier and second biggest gas

supplier. The company has doubled in size in 12 months, having taken

over Yorkshire Electricity and Northern Electric.

'The external challenge is that associated with our fast growth and the

fact the utilities sector is changing from a regulated environment to a

competitive one,' Frost said.

'Internally, we are bringing together powerful brands and the job is to

ensure people understand the benefits,' he added.

npower has attracted complaints about its aggressive door-to-door sales

force. Frost sees part of new role as addressing this issue: 'A key part

of what we have to tell is that the sales force has been re-trained

since the problems came to light. We are working with the regulators and

the level of complaints is falling.'
