INTERNATIONAL: Gavin Anderson & Co retains HK pilots business

HONG KONG: The Hong Kong Aircraft Officers' Association has hired

Gavin Anderson & Co on a retainer basis following a difficult period

that began with the sacking of 53 Cathay Pacific pilots last July.

Incumbent Weber Shandwick Worldwide had been working on a project-only

basis for the beleaguered association until October last year.

GA Asia president and chief executive Laurence Cook said the consultancy

won the business without a competitive pitch. Cook heads a team of ten

on the account, with a brief which includes 'being actively involved in

media relations'.

GA is believed to have worked for the association's sister organisations

in the US, but Cook would not comment.

HKAOA general secretary, John Findlay, confirmed the consultancy's

advisory role, adding: 'GA has a unique specialisation in aviation and

transportation issues and possesses the relevant relationships with

interested parties.'
