London mayor Ken Livingstone, who incurred the wrath of the PR and
public affairs community when he sought last year to ban lobbyists from
influencing the work of the Greater London Authority, is to address the
IPR Greater London Group on 14 January. Livingstone has already
confronted one group of foes by speaking at a fringe meeting at the Tory
party conference last October. He is now set to be a keynote speaker at
the event, set to take place in the Cochrane Theatre. The evening will
see an informal talk from Livingstone with the audience given the
opportunity to put questions to him. Likely areas of discussion include
the mayor's much-vaunted transport and policing policies, his attitude
to the Government's PPP proposals, and his controversial stance on
Britons captured supporting terrorist group Al Qa'ida. Of the IPR's
7,000 members, 2,200 are based in the capital, but the venue is
described by the IPR as 'intimate' - with scarce empty seats. Those
