United Biscuits PR work up for grabs

United Biscuits is on the hunt for agencies to handle consumer PR

work for two McVitie's brands - Jaffa Cakes and Penguin.

The search comes as part of UB's intention to seek brand-specific

consumer PR support.

Consumer PR for UB brands - which also includes KP Foods - was

previously handled by Lexis. The agency resigned the account late last

year (PR Week, 2 November 2001).

No details have yet been revealed of a timetable for the Penguin or

Jaffa Cakes pitches, which are understood to be being co-ordinated by

Alice Cadman, UB's McVitie's marketing general manager.

This latest development comes after a raft of PR changes at UB. It was

announced this week that CirKle Communications will handle trade PR for

KP Nuts. The agency already handles trade PR for KP Snacks.

CirKle director Caroline Kinsey leads the account and reports to Mandy

Ferguson, KP Snacks marketing director. KP Nut's consumer programme

continues to be handled by Leedex.

In December, UB's pan-European corporate and public affairs brief was

handed to Hill & Knowlton (PRWeek, 7 December 2001).
