Two websites launch this week to provide healthcare PROs with
access to information and research data.
Condom manufacturer Durex has launched an online sexual health resource,
while Health Media Group has relaunched health-news.co.uk, which
provides education and information services, in addition to news.
Durexhealthcare.com is designed as a global resource for healthcare
professionals, carrying information on safe-sex campaigns, research
projects and educational material.
Durex international marketing director Leigh Taylor said the internet is
a vital tool in the fight against HIV/Aids.
'Its key idea is to bring together health professionals around the world
to share ideas,' Taylor said.
The Durex site will have an updated news section carrying related sexual
health stories. A different country's sex education programme will be
highlighted each month.
The site will feature downloadable visuals and video streaming of
Durex's manufacturing operation. Users can also submit their own
material, such as research findings, online.
Health Media Group has relaunched health-news.co.uk, giving greater
emphasis to its 35 therapeutic areas.
Director of content Gill Shearer said: 'We have brought that information
to the surface of the site so you can go straight to your area of
interest.'
At present the site is free to 120,000 registered users such as
healthcare professionals and related media, including PROs.
Shearer oversees a team of 35 journalists, editors and medical
consultants, who turn out daily professional and consumer news
stories.
Therapeutic news is produced for a variety of clients, while packages
are also supplied to interactive TV channels and consumer websites.
More personalisation of the site, including e-mail alerts, will be
available soon, Shearer said. There are no plans for charging users at
present, she added.
