Finnish telecoms giant Sonera Zed is to review its relationship
with retained agency Citigate Technology following the redundancy of the
company's UK PR chief.
Director of communications Patrick Kerr was among what is understood to
have been 16 job losses at Zed in the UK this month.
Zed now has just one in-house PRO, corporate communications manager
Chembi Merser. She confirmed the company will review its relationship
with Citigate Technology, its only retained agency, within months.
The decision to axe Kerr's post comes just six months after the
redundancy of vice-president of global communications Jonathan Russell.
He has since joined BT Retail as director of PR (PRWeek, 16
November).
The downturn in the telecoms sector is thought to have been responsible
for this wave of job cuts.
