DIARY: Red Plum adds PR flavour to DR Who convention

Proof that you don't necessarily need to adore your clients arrives

Red Plum Communications.

The Newcastle-based consultancy was handed responsibility for plugging

the 'Dimensions on Tyneside' convention, which for those not in the know

(step forward 99 per cent of the population), was a meeting of Dr Who


The agency was taken on by event organiser Artenis in an effort to smoke

out followers of the 38-year-old series, and sell out the 500 strong


Agency director Sam Hook claims the agency experienced few problems

shifting tickets to fans, whose obsession saw them succumb to aiding the

PR campaign.

The show isn't for everyone, of course: some consider themselves too

cool to watch it. Others, like Hook, are also deterred: 'I used to hide

behind the sofa whenever it came on TV and could never muster the

courage to watch it.'
