VNU Business Publications has appointed Ron Condon as editor of its
The IT journalist launched the operation, in which a single news team
produces stories for four titles and a website, this week.
VNU's corporate computing titles publishing director, Tony Loynes, said:
'It is unlikely the four publications and the website will use the same
story. (They will) use the relevant quotes and cut out the others.'
The move, which VNU admits is part of its cost-cutting measures, has
been in the pipeline for a year.
Loynes said the idea of magazines from the same group competing with
each other was 'largely an outdated notion. We are pushing against the
external market. We have almost no overlaps in our circulation'.
The hub provides news for Computing, Computer Reseller News, Network
News, IT Week and VNU.net. Larger titles such as Computeractive and
Personal Computer World continue as usual.
