There's no better boost for a PR career than acquiring your
employer an award. So with this in mind, aspiring board directors may
wish to keep an eye on the impending closing date for nominations for
the Pathfinders Media Boss of the Year Award.
Media recruitment agency Pathfinders will announce the third winner of
the annual award at a ceremony at London's media hangout The Groucho
Club on 21 November. Nominations close on 31 October.
Past winners are BAFTA chief executive Amanda Berry, and Biss Lancaster
chairman Graham Lancaster, who scooped the prize last year.
Lancaster's PA, Helen Sears, nominated her boss on account of his
mentoring skills. The respect is impressively requited as Lancaster
describes her as having 'progressed quite well' and doubles her role as
PA with that of international co-ordinator.
Lancaster will be on this year's panel of judges, along with Pathfinders
MD Amanda Fone and also Berry.
Last year's award was great for business and for morale, says
Lancaster.
Any suggestion that it could benefit the career of the nominator is, of
course, scurillous.
