Citigate Dewe Rogerson has not had an easy ride during the past year. In its latest financial statement, the agency blamed the downturn in the City and subsequent impact on financial PR for a 17 per cent plunge in like-for-like revenues in Q3.

Its offices in Europe and the Far East showed some growth,but its London office suffered a senior staff exodus last year when former CEO Jonathan Clare, corporate MD Deborah Saw and MD of public affairs Simon Nayyar left to set up their own agency, Newgate.

That said, the agency has worked on several high-profile deals during the past 12 months, including DE Master Blenders 1753's $5bn (£3.13bn) spin-off from Sara Lee and America Movil's EUR2.45bn (£1.98bn) investment in KPN. It also won healthcare clients Oasis and Transform, technology firm Kroll Ontrack and banking giant Santander.

Citigate also opened an office in Moscow, to build on its offering across Russia and Eastern Europe.
