County Sligo in Ireland is in the middle of a hunt for above and below-the-line comms and marketing support. Sligo Tourism had initiated the process, which is now closed to new applicants, ahead of the launch of a year-long high-profile campaign during 2013.

The Department for Education is to be hit by about 1,000 job cuts. The department is expected to lose a quarter of its total workforce over the next two years as part of £290m in cuts. However, one well-placed government source was hopeful comms output at the department would not be deeply affected, adding 'most of the fat had been cut away already over the past few years'.

The Scottish Government has launched a national public awareness campaign urging householders to act now to cut their bills and make their homes warmer. The campaign encourages people to call the Home Energy Scotland hotline for free energy advice and support.
